Contemplative Practice

My name is Willem Kolste. I am a contemplative practitioner. This means that I spend my spare time exploring the inner realms of the psyche. I am interested in every kind of contemplative practice and I enjoy researching and comparing methods from different traditions. These pathways hold the power to radically transform an individual’s experience of life. For me, there is kinship between practices as different as cognitive behavioral therapy and contemplation of the names of God. Although situated in different cultural contexts, they both aim to change the individual in a meaningful and powerful way.

My approach is neither secular nor non-secular. The transformation of the heart, the mind, and an individual’s experience of life is ultimately what is important to me. Science-based, rooted in tradition, or original and experimental: I regard all approaches to self-change as equally worthy of investigation. I am prepared to experiment with every kind of systematic approach for inner transformation.

As I learn and grow through these practices, my understanding of the inner landscape evolves. My hope is that by learning from these various paths, I might discover powerful methods for self-transformation and then be empowered to share those techniques with the world.
